Battle of the Baby Blankets

Susan and I started the year deciding to create a simple knitted and crocheted baby blanket each using Spud & Chloe's lovely Sweater yarn.  The colours of this wool/organic cotton mix are so fresh and combined with the fact that it is machine washable and tumble dryable, it makes it perfect for hardworking baby gear.

Erika Knight

We've always loved Erika Knight's simple and incredibly stylish designs and are so excited that she has at last launched her own range of yarns to accompany them.

She came in to see us today and show us the range.   As well as being great company, Erika's eponymous yarns did not disappoint.  She has created a capsule collection of luxury British yarns that will appeal to any knitter.   All three types  will be in soon, so you can see for yourself ... the only problem will be deciding what to knit with first.

Meeting Millamia

We had such a lovely morning on Saturday with Helena and Katarina from Millamia.  They brought in samples of just about every pattern from their three books, Close Knit Gang, Bright Young Things and the latest, Wonderland, and they all looked amazing.

The Gentle Art of Knitting

It was a lovely day in Mrs Moon yesterday!   Jane arrived with lots of samples from her gorgeous book which look even better in the flesh than they do in print.  We were joined by lots of Jane's friends and fans and had a super time eating cakes and generally chatting about knitty things.

It was lovely to meet so many new people - we hope that you will visit us again - as well as all our regulars, who just made the day so jolly!  Not much Prosecco was drunk, but I'm sure we'll manage it somehow.

Never too late

Gosh, sorry it has been so long since I've been here...  I really don't know why I haven't managed to keep the blog up to date but my new New Year's Resolution is to do better!

I think some of the reason why I've not written anything is that there is too much to write!  We have been so busy at Mrs Moon... what with appearing on the telly, in The Evening Standard, Home & Gardens etc etc we've hardly had time to think!

Ally Pally et al

We tried to take a little bit of St Margarets to Ally Pally last week and hopefully it worked.  The Knitting & Stitching show was something new for us and we were a bit nervous about it, but we had great fun and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves (most of the time)!

Ysolda at Mrs Moon

The thing about setting up a shop and a website when you've got four young children each is the summer holidays are a bit tricky...  something has to give and this summer it's the shop.  Luckily the Lovely Lydia & Lynne are holding the fort extremely capably, but we do miss seeing everyone...

Anyway, I just popped in this evening to get my fix and who should be there but Ysolda and Sarah.  I was feeling a bit spacey, but managed to put names to faces and was just so pleased that I had popped in when I had!

In the pink

We thought we ought to do a Valentine's window and had a great time! I was shocked how many pinks we have and it made me realise how much yarn there is at 41 Crown Road....! I guess that whatever yarn we stock, there tends to be a version in pink and red and as long as there is then we are bound to stock it... we're just drawn towards those rosey hues. Kate, Susan and lovely Lydia have made some beautiful hearts for the window and if you look carefully you'll see some of Kate's ceramic hearts... look out for her ceramic buttons in the shop soon.

Uknited Nations

We had a great inaugural knit-in today. Susan provided home made millionaire's shortbread and we had a small but select group of Mrs Moon friends knitting and chatting away... Our group hailed from Australia, USA, Richmond and St Margarets, so very cosmopolitan. Admittedly I don't think they made the trip specially, but it made us feel loved... There were great projects on show.. Fiona and Monica were showing us all how it should be done , Robyn was picking up where she left off years ago and Vanessa managed to finish her second project with real success.
