Two Colour Moss Stitch Scarf

£4.00

Super simple, but a little bit complicated to describe and explain! I’ve wanted to be able to work colour and texture into a design for some time and could never quite get it to work, other than using brioche, which I admit is lovely, but isn’t quite what I was after. I’m really pleased with this though which is extremely textured! The way it is made means that you almost get a woven-like fabric – almost not knitting at all! It is worked using the ‘double knitting’ technique. Usually used in a rib to give completely reversed stitches on the two sides of your work, here I done it in moss (seed) stitch to create really distinct stitch shapes and textures. The scarf is reversible too which I think is a must for any scarf really. I’ve worked this using two separate contrast colours, you could of course use the same contrast throughout in which case you’ll need 2 skeins of the contrast.

You will need:

Mrs Moon Plump: 2 x Main colour MC (show in Crème Caramel), 1 x Contrast colour 1 CC1 (shown in Fondant Fancy), 1 x Contrast colour 2 CC2 (shown in Marshmallow)

10mm needles (or 12mm if you’d like a less structured scarf)

Finished Measurements: 160cm x 19cm (63” x 7½“)

Gauge: 12sts and 10 rows to 10cm/4” using 10mm needles

Washing
Plump Superchunky and Plump DK are made from the highest quality superfine merino and baby alpaca.  These really are special and luxurious fibres and should be treated carefully!  Having said that both yarns are suitable for delicate hand washing.  Use a specialist detergent and do not agitate or twist the fibres to retain the gorgeous softness and shape of your garment.

Shedding
Because of the roving nature of our yarns (they are single ply, rather than tightly twisted), some shedding may occur.  The best way to deal with this is spray your finished garment with water and leave to dry flat, naturally before the first wearing.  This sets the fibres and should stop any problems.  If you want any further advice just drop us a line at [email protected]

Using your yarn
All our yarn comes in skeins.  Before using you need to wind the skein into a ball or you will get into an awful tangled mess!  If you are not sure how to do this you can watch our video here!
